Which water heater is right for me?

Choosing the right water heater for your home means weighing, cost, time you expect to live in your home, family water needs, safety factors, energy saving potential and fuel source. There is a lot to know about water heaters. Here’s a crash course in selecting water heaters for your home.

Why is the tank water heater quote I got from the box store less?

It may not be by the time they are done. We provide a Complete Quote where we estimate full costs upfront. We include the tank water heater, materials, venting, installation cost and code upgrades in the price, along with a permit (yes, we take out permits!), and that gives you an honest water heater price.

Once in a while the gas piping or other materials ends up being estimated wrong and we will have to make a small price adjustment on the day of install. If that happens we will explain in detail what the situation is so you know what you are buying.

What is the best type of water heater for Seattle homes?

It depends on your water heating needs and your fuel source. The endless hot water of a tankless water heater is great for families, or for everyday luxury with an energy efficient water heater that doesn’t take up space. But you need to have gas or propane, because there’s no electric tankless. If it’s just two people and relatively small water usage, a standard tank water heater in gas or electric might fit your needs. Super energy savers with a big attached garage and electric heat could benefit from a heat pump water heaters. And if you are using radiant floor heating, a boiler is what you need. Our home energy specialists know all of them and can fit your home, budget and lifestyle with the right water heating choice.

Why do they call it a hot water heater?

Technically its a cold water heater, making the cold water hot. If it is already hot water you don’t need to heat it. That being said, it is a commonly used term that has been around for a long time, so whatever you want to call it , that’s fine with us.

Are there water heater rebates ?

Visit our rebates section for information about water heater rebates from local utilities.

If you are considering a new hot water heater, our home energy specialists will help you evaluate the latest energy efficient gas and electric water heating systems, boilers and gas or propane tankless water heaters and help you get all applicable rebates.

How do I flush my water heater?

Flushing your tank water heater preserves it’s life, maintains any extended warranty you may have, and gives you more hot water per fill. It’s recommended that water heaters be flushed annually. Here is how to do the flush. While this is definitely something the average homeowner can do, if you are uncomfortable with it, we can perform any needed flush. Call and ask for a water heater flush appointment.
